I am doing a university project and I need to know what people have the
display settings as resolution and colour

University? If so it might be an idea to give a bit more info as this
sounds more like a secondary school computer course project...

Maybe I'm way off-track here, but to do anything sensible with this info
you also want to know what size monitor someone has and what refresh
rate it's running at. 1024x768 is exceptional for a 15" yet somewhat
lacklustre on a 24", and doing 1600x1200 on an old 20" is great, but at
60Hz you get square eyes from it...

Here's some of mine:

PC1 (general purpose desktop)
1152x864x32b@85Hz (17" Iiyama) and 1024x768x32b@76Hz (20" Sun)
PC2 (Sun Sparcstation Ultra5)
1152x900x32b@76Hz (17" Iiyama)

1280x1024x32b (17" LCD)

Supposedly the most common is 1024,768x32bpp still, though
I'd expect that to go up in a couple years as it has in the
past 5 from 800x600.

800x600 19"CRT
Sorry I forgot my glasses today and can't read anything smaller :-)
