Hi all,

I recently experienced a safe mode boot, and was able to
recover from what it caused it. However, it seems to be
that some corruption happened along the way in my
video settings. I updated the driver, but my video settings
still not be able to display a better configuration than
800X600, and it is at the lowest (4 bits).

Can anyone sugest what should I do?

Thanks in advance,

Carlos.

Download and install the latest drivers for your graphics card or onboard
chip from the manufacturer's website.

Hi Cari,

thanks for your suggestion, Dell sent me the latest driver but that did
not help?
Any other suggestion? Would I have to start considering changing the
video board?

Thanks,

Carlos.

What did Dell say when you asked them?

Update to the latest video card drivers.

Update the chipset (aka motherboard) drivers.

Dell does not always distribute the latest drivers. Go to the
manufacturer's site (Nvidia, ATI/Radeon?) and download their latest driver
and control software. Radeon will download the latest driver and Catalyst
control software together. That's also true with Nvidia and their Nview
control software. You want the latest of both the driver and control
software so you get the complete list of monitor options. Make sure that
the control software has identified you monitor correctly and that it's VGA
or DVI.

Thank you all for your kind response.

Dell tells me that it may be a windows problem...? I went to the
ATI website. This is for an ATI Fire GL E1 board. Their website
refers me to Dell saying that they have the latest drivers..

What else can I do..?

Thanks again,

Carlos.
