Recently I remove a number of programs I was no longer interested in using.
Now, whenever I log off or reboot, I loose my Display Properties setting.
Messing up my desk top apperiance and my font settings for Internet Explorer.
The only way I can fix is to got into my Display Properties, Apperiance,
Effects.... In Effects, I uncheck "Use the following method to smooth edges
of screen font:" then, "OK", & "Apply". Then recheck the it and "Apply".
Usually, that fixes the problem until I next Log Off, Reboot, or Power Down.

Now I don't recall what exactly I removed, though I know
FirefoxGoogleToolbar was one of them and my pick for culprit in this case.

Any help would be appreciated,
Badclown.

You might try reinstalling or updating your vid.drivers, from either mobo,
if on board, card manu, or PC maker if large OEM or latop
You could also try the system file checker, see win help

DL, thanks for responding. I took your advice, and installed the
manufacturer's drivers for my ATI video card (was previously using
Microsoft's from the install of XP SP2). Unfortunately, there was no change.

Something else I left out (and have been chastised for here in the past),
the display setting are only lost on the ADMIN account I used to do the house
cleaning and removal of the unwanted software. If I use one of the other
accounts, I have no problems. I can setup another ADMIN account, but, it
just bugs me to leave what seems to me to be a straight forward question
unresolved and have to dance around it by switching accounts.

It's my belief that one of my HKEY setting was deleted by one or more of my
uninstalls. Unfortately, I'm barely semi-literate when it comes to the
registry.

Thanks for any help,
Badclown.
