Display Properties "Desktop Tab" unusable

Trying to change my desktop background.

Right Click on Desktop, click on Properties, click
on "Desktop" Tab and then the "Display Properties" box
closes itself and I'm back to an empty desktop.

TIA for any/all advice.

Run the edit on line 128:

Restore the Desktop and Screensaver Tabs (Line 128)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

I "do" have a Desktop and ScreenSaver Tab on my Display
properties.

I choose another Theme on the "Themes" Tab and this kept
the Display Properties box from closing when I clicked on
the "Desktop" Tab but when I select a new background the
Display properties box closes immediately.

The background does not change however.

I ran the file you reccomended and it did not change my
problem. The Display Properties box closes immediately
when you try to select another background. The
background does not change and you are back to an empty
desktop as the Display Properties window closes
immediately.

Any other ideas?

Hi Bob,

I realize the name didn't fit, but the fix did. It should have helped. If
you have any third party desktop managers running, disable them while trying
to troubleshoot this. Good luck!
