Display Properties/ Appearance / Effects
Function:Show windows contents while dragging

OS:Win XP

After setting the checkmark to activate this function, I close the effects
window and the properties. The function works well however the following
startup/booting of windows, the checkmark dissappears and the setting reverts
to the previous state of inactivity for that function.

Anyone know of a regfix to fix this problem?

Do you have a DELL system?

A startup application is probably disabling the feature everytime. Use the
MSCONFIG utility to isolate the problem. As a workaround, you may use the
utility listed in the following page so that the option is enabled at every
restart:

"Show windows contents while dragging" option is disabled after a restart:

Thanks for the info. I'll try out the msconfig 1st and see if i can pinpoint
the bug. Just Out of curiosity, the link for the startup utility you
supplied: is that patch designed for the use of DELL pc's only or will it
work on any laptop/pc with windows XP? Please let me know before I decide to
use it.

Thanks Ramesh,

Al

Al,

The utility (not a patch) can be applied in any other system. All it does is
to turn on the "Show window contents...." option at startup. As this can't
be accomplisjed by a REG or script, DavidC created this utility.
