i was testing a machine...the monitor appeared to be bad...
the image was slightly washed out (not bad) in the upper left corner...
but upon testing the monitor on another machine...the monitor turns out to
be fine.

so i tried a different video board (and just for the heck of it... a
different monitor)

but i still get the same thing... the upper left part of the image is still
slightly washed
out (and i moved the whole unit...to make sure it's not emi)

what would cause that?

When you moved the monitor to another pc, did you use the same monitor
cable?

the cable is attached to the monitor...so it's not a cable problem...

i think i'll try some different boards and drivers etc i've got several
spares

aargh.
i totally forgot to check the bios settings.

it was set for "assign irq to video" (or something similar)
and all i had to do was disable that function and now it works fine!

Although you seem to have sorted this problem out, might the original
problem have been due to the positioning of the monitor, with regard to
other elctronic devices and their magnetinc fields?
