Hello,

I recently had a serious problem and my computer would not shut down
correctly. I pressed a couple of function keys to see if I would get my
mouse pointer back. This apparently created a new problem.

My system is Windows XP Home Edition, Dell Inspiron 8200 notebook.

The following display problem now exists: the very first screens (for
example the one where the bar indicates that Windows is loading) when
booting XP are displayed about half size in the center. This also occurs
with programs that apparently don't use Windows' own display functions. The
start menu
seems to be smaller, too. However, the regular windows' program screens are
normal, i.e. OE, IE, and other programs using Windows XP's display
functions. I have tried the regular Windows settings to no avail.
Apparently, this has to do with the system before starting Windows. A system
restore to an earlier point did not help either.

I would like to have the startup screens in full size again.

Any recommendations?

TIA,

George Werner Pflaum

Hello,

just in case someone else needs the solution, I finally found it.

The so-called boot screen size can be changed by hitting the Fn+F7 keys
during booting.
