I installed Windows XP a few weeks agao and ever since I find the display
very dark and all images have to have the balance adjusted to enable them to
be viewed. I have checked my monitor, which up until now has never evidenced
a problem, and it is all in order. (An LG Studioworks 77i) How do I setup the
display so taht I can again see brighter display and images, without having
to adjust each and every one?

Check the website of your video adapter's
mfg. for a current WinXp Video Driver.

Also, your monitor should have adjustments
for brightness/contrast.

I might add, *do not* adjust your pictures to compensate for a
misadjusted monitor! ;-)

Thanks for the pointers but NO GO!
I went to the HP pages and downloaded the drivers - [searched using the
serial number]. During installation, a driver must have clashed as all the
sound vanished off my PC.
Then I had no idea how to get that back, let alone try to get to see images
as used to be normal.
PC went black, there was a little soft electronic phfsszt, then while
rebooting - I realized there was no longer sound.
Have now re-installed XP again, but cannot afford to spend days p**!#@!*^%
around with this type of hi-tec nonsense. (It takes me a full 2 days to
re-install and upgrade all the programs and it is not fun).
