Hello:

I just got a laptop with Vista, and the display (i.e. the wording) of web
pages and most programs is very small and hard to read.

Is there a way to change this to make the print larger? I know how to
change the general Display settings, but that does not seem to be making a
difference.

Thanks!

childofthe1980s,

Adjusting the display settings on your desktop will not adjust the display settings within your browser. You need to open
your browser's options, and find the tab (or menu) for the fonts used in your browser. There, you can edit the font (size,
thickness, etc.) to your liking.

You've just discovered that the higher the resolution of a display, the smaller
the default font looks. If you go into the Control Panel and select
Personalization, there's am option that allows you to adjust the font size.

You probably have to reduce your screen resolution. Play with several
settings to find which you prefer.

That is not the best solution as most LCDs look like crap when you change away
from their native resolution. Very fuzzy...

Not on mine. Native is 1680x1050 and I am running it at 1152x864 with
no noticeable degradation.

Which means it doesn't even come CLOSE to looking like "crap".

I'm thinking you are probably one of the people that doesn't see any difference
between standard resolution TV and HD TV. Some people don't.

I don't have your original post but it you will get some distortion of small
font text due to the up scaling of 1152x864 to 1680x1050. A better option
would be to run it at 1680x1050 and increase the dots per inch (DPI) used by
windows to increase the physical size of items on your screen.

Go to the Control Panel Administrative Tools and find the Ease of Access
Center. You should be able to adjust your display to suit you in that area.
