display durations of items lasting several days

How can I display groups of days when eg someone visiting, away, special week?
like those wall planners
apart from entering "all-day event" recurring
i'm using outlook 2003 and vista

All day events, either single ones for each day or a recurring one covering
the period, is the only way.
