display drivers

I am receiving an prompt stating display drivers are not being loaded upon start-up on the icon-bar. when the start-up is finished my computer is stuck, eventually all programs that are effected by the drivers begin to shut down or end. Can anyone advise be how to re-establish the drivers. I believe I accidently closed the display icon instead of another icon. Thus my problems began.

Determine the type of video card and goto the manufacturers web site and
download the latest driver.
