I have a RADEON 9600 PRO SEC FAMILY (Microsoft Corporation), my driver is out
of date and i want to update it but should I get the update from ATI or from
Microsoft? I downloaded the driver update from ATI but it doesn't work and i
have to rollback, may be I download the wrong one? Here's my driver info:

RADEON 9600 PRO SEC Family (Microsoft Corporation)
Date: 3/23/04
Version: 6.14.10.6462

Please help and if possible please give me the link to the correct update =)

Thanks

Yes...get it directly from ATI.

Maybe the following steps will help:

Go here:
http://tinyurl.com/9v4eo

Click: Windows XP Drivers and Software

Choose...Radeon

Choose: Catalyst 6.7 Windows XP - Driver Download

That should be the driver you need.

If the ATI driver really doesn't work then go to the WindowsUpdate web site
and have it scan your system for updates. It should determine if you do need
the Microsoft driver. Download and install it.

I THINK i've found the correct driver but i can't download it =( are there
any other way or anywhere else to download it?

Where are you downloading it from?

What happens when you try to download it?

Why can't you download it? I have not had any problems with the ATI website
this week (and I switched from an nVidia FX5700 to an X850 Pro graphics
card)...

Ensure you get BOTH sets of drivers... you must have the .NET package before
installing the main driver package.

I installed the latest driver from ATI but then it said something about this
version is not compatible with this version if Windows, so i have to rollback
to my previous driver

If you're running Windows XP, the latest driver is
6-7_xp-2k_ccc_wdm_enu_34826.exe. Ensure you also have SP2 installed.... and
as I said previously, all the .NET packages from Windows Updates. There
should be the original .NET, then I believe two updates to it and then .NET
v2.

where can i find this driver you mentioned??

At http://www.ati.com/ click on the tap called Drivers & Software.

Then on Windows XP, then on the word Radeon...

Then on "Catalyst 6.7 Windows XP Driver Download"

(sorry I can't give you the actual link but it uses cookies and I don't
think it will work... if it does decide to, it's
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=293)

Once you've got to that page, you'll need to download the following:

Microsoft.NET Framework
and
Catalyst Control Center Package

Install the .NET package first, then reboot if necessary and then install
the Catalyst Control Center.

Thats the one I downloaded but it doesn't work on my computer =(
Oh well....i guess i'll just leave my computer as is
Thank you very much for your help =)

yeah I installed .NET and then the driver, the installation process went well
but after the system reboot, my screen turned into 640x480 and the color is
messed up. I got an error message that say something about this driver is not
compatible with this windows version
