You need to read the details about which chipset your motherboard is using
by check the manual or the manufacturer's web site. Then, you should locate
the correct chipset drivers.

However, you will need to do the following in order to correctly install the
nVidia video card drivers:

1) Locate, download, install and Liveupdate Driver Cleaner Pro.
2) Locate and download the latest nVidia card drivers (WHQL certified is
recommended!)
3) In Add/Remove Programs -- Uninstall the nVidia Drivers. DO NOT REBOOT.
4) Run Driver Cleaner Pro and select 'nVidia'. This will clear out the
left-over drivers files and settings. This is important since it is
possible that the files can cause conflicts if there are different version.
5) Reboot and let XP use the "default" video drivers it selects.
6) Then run the nVidia video card drivers install process and reboot.

If you think the problem started after you started using Windowblind's
Desktop Manager, did you try removing it?

Hi. I've recently been getting The Blue Screen of Death that
reports that nv4_disp.dll is the culprit. This is an NVIDIA display
driver: GeForce FX 5200. The system fails to start normally (freezes)
before it gets to the welcome screen. Using the xp Recovery Console
from the cd corrects the problem (takes about 15 mts using chkdsk /p
and I'm back in business, at least for a while.
This seems to have started about 2 weeks ago when I started using
Windowblind's Desktop manager. I applied a desktop and the system
automatically rebooted. (I have since changed the auto reboot
setting.) I went to NVIDIA's web site last week and installed the newest
drive
( think I got the right one) and after a couple days I got the BSOD.
I then installed
an older version of the drivers and it happened again. The knowledge
base at NVIDIA suggested updating the chipset drivers. I'm trying to cover
all bases
so How can I find I find out if I need to update the chipset drivers??
In the meantime I going to install the newest driver again and leave
it even if
I suspect it as the problem.
Any and all help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
James

It's caused by an incorrectly set clock. The zone is correct, but I bet
you've not checked the DST box. Do so, or you'll be killfiled by many.

I'll give it a shot. I probably didn't get all the old
driver removed when I uninstalled it.

Thanks,
James

That's been long gone. In fact I don't normally go into
the registry but I attempted to remove every reference
to the software.

Used Driver Cleaner and Installed the lates nVidia drivers (WHQL certified)
Time will tell.

Thanks
James

Happened again. I'm not sure now if I should uninstall the
driver again or not. I used Recovery Console and I'm up and
running again, for how long I don't know.

All indicates everything is correct. DST is checked and
the my system time is correct.
