Display Character Problems

I got impatient with Windows loading at startup and
hit "control/alt/delete" during a period that the screen
was black. When Windows did load the text under icons,
in Windows dialog boxes, files names, basically
everywhere came up in some strange symbols. I can't even
read file names so I can uninstall Windows and
reinstall. Any thoughts?
