Hi.

I have tried several other message boards that might be
better suited for this question but I never got an answer.

As some of you may know, when you recieve an email using
Outlook Express with a JPG or other picture attachment,
the image shows up in the preview pane as well as in the
message if you open it.

But, when you use Outlook, the picture, when sent as an
attachment, will not show up in the preview pane or
message you must save it or open it.

Here is an example. Here is a message with a JPG
attachment opened in Outlook

Heres the same one opened in Outlook Express

http://home.attbi.com/~gdebbie/pic/oe.JPG

How do I get Outlook to do the same?

Thanks

BTW the same thing occurs on outlook 2000, XP and 2003

This behaviour is by design. Only only shows pictures in-line when they are
included in-line by the sender. When the sender attaches the pictures the
picture will also be displayed as an attachment.

I find this behavior very disturbing. How can I “force-configure†Outlook to display all attachments in the email? Or is there a patch file we can use to work around that design?

You can't. Outlook was not designed that way, and most of us prefer it. We'd
rather choose which images we display, not be forced to display every one.

Well, there should at least be an option for those who prefer it
differently.
I'm going back to outlook express

That's a rather boorish attitude.

As I see it, Outlook is forcing me to *not* view any images. Who says I
want that? Omer is right, the option should be available.

I agree, evertime I take another look at Outlook, I've found Outlook Express to be superior.
