display as field

We share contacts through our server to desktops....use Workgroup Share. When
I make a change on my computer to a contact and then sync, the desktop
computers get all the info except 'display as'. Without this field, they
cannot see contact when they try to send an email.

Interestingly, when I remove a space at the end of the email address in the
email address field, the info then pops into the display as field. If this is
done from a desktop that does not have admin rights, they lose info as the
server sync's again.

Is there a setting in Outlook that allows display as features?

is the display as field getting correctly populated when you create the
contact? if so, the problem is with the sync process.

It may be the sync since the originating desktop retains the information.
There don't seem to be any settings in the sync process to alter how it
populates the 'display as'. Does Outlook have any settings for the way that
it imports info as it sync's? I know how to map fields to place info in that
field (that's how we create our distribution lists)...just wasn't sure if I
had to alter Outlook settings somehow.

Thanks, Scott

I don;to think outlook can change the field mapping on syncs - only on
imports/exports. Have you checked with the workgroup share people?

Scott and Diane,

We do know that the e-mail address field is populated dynamically from the
NK2 file when there is a match in the NK2. Further, the Display As field
will resemble (exactly) the alias data contained in the NK2. I wonder if
Scott copies the NK2 file or at least ensures that it is connected via the
profile data if that will have any effect? If you'll notice when exporting
contact data, display as data does not export. I'm not certain why this
occurs, but have often wondered if it is due to a relationship with the NK2
file.

Thoughts??

Diane....I have a help request in to WorkGroup Share so will see what they say.

Randy...what's NK2 and where would I find it?
