Windows XP does not detect my display adaptor or grpahics card (which is an S3 graphics ProSvage DDR). When i start games, I get audio and no video, just a black screen. I have tried downloading new drivers and installing them, but they will not install. Also, Direct X 9.0b does not detect my graphcs card, and so cannot use Direct 3D.

Make sure to update your motherboard chipset drivers first. That will help
pave the way for you to install the rest of the drivers for your video card.
