After a problem with a software install, I reinstalled XP. Now I cannot update the display adapter (ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500DV) driver. I cannot unistall the existing driver with the software uninstall utility (I get a message "Unable to initialize"), and attempts to reinstall the old dirver or install a new driver are met with an error message and the advise to install a generic VGA dirver first. This I have been unable to figure out how to do. The display adapter does not even show up on the device list. How can I change something that Windows does not recognize? Can you help me, I really don't want to erase everything on the disk and reinstall.
