Trying to format my C drive and it refuses because it can't unmount drive.
"in use by another process" It then offers to dismount drive but isn't
successful.

Appreciate any advice

Stand in the middle of a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Then, try to pick it up.
Can't, can you? Then why should you be able to format the windows partition
while you are in windows?

If you *must* reformat:

- use Windows XP Setup, booting from the CD-ROM. This
lets you reinstall XP and reformat the HDD

- use one of the utilities from the hard disk makers web
sites (WD, Seagate, IBM/Hitachi), such as DiskTool,
MaxBlast, DiskWizard, OnTrack DiskManager

- Use PartitionMagic, one of the best tools for this
