I just got a new computer and it is Windows XP. I have a lot of disks such
as games and clipart that I used on my old computer and they say they are to
be used for windows 95/98. Can I still use these disks on my new computer?

Try it.
Find out.

Most of my older software has installed fine in XP. I did have a few
programs though that would not install or if installed would not run.
Before trying to install, I checked the website for each program to see
what their recommendations were for using the program with XP. WinXP also
has a "program compatibility wizard" you might find helpful. Check Help and
Support for details.

This site maintains a database of programs that users have found to be
compatible (or not) with XP:
http://www.ntcompatible.com/

TIP: Create a restore point before installing a new program. If you run
into trouble uninstall the software. This might fail as some programs that
have trouble installing in XP have just as much trouble uninstalled. Then
revert to the system restore point and delete any leftover folders and
files from the unwanted program.

It depends honestly. Some of the will, some of the won't. As was
already sadi, your best bet is to try them out.

The answer is "it depends."

When it comes to things like clip art (which is essentially just
data), yes, almost certainly.

Regarding programs (whether games or any other kind) the answer
is still "it depends." The programs say for Windows 98 and not XP
because when they were released, there was no Windows XP. But
that doesn't mean they won't run under XP. Some will (probably
most) but some won't.

So what you should do is try each of them. If one doesn't work
normally, then try running it in compatibility mode (read up on
compatibility mode at Start | Help and Support).
