I am trying to use diskprobe in XP Pro (my account belongs to the
Administrator group),
but i can't get past selecting a physical (or logical even) drive.
When i click on "Drives", "Open Physical drive", and highlight
PhysicalDrive0,
the only box i am able to click on is OK, the other boxed such as
"set active" are grey.
When i click on OK, that seems okay, but when I try to read i get and
error that says there is no drive open.

In the drives selection menu item (either physical or logical) it says
"no active handle".

And you just wanted to share this with us? ...

If I remeber correctly you need to double click PhysicalDriveX ...

Alternatively, there's a much nicer disk editor that can be found at
www.runtime.org

Yes, that's the ticket! Thank YOU for sharing :-)
I must have done that 50 times but never thought to *double* click.
