I'm having some rather annoying problems with my PXE-boot image. If I'm
booted with the thing on a hard drive, it can see that drive just fine
and manage the partitions. If I'm booted with the thing in RAM, and the
disk is compeletely blank, diskpart again runs just fine. If there are
any partitions on the disk, active or not, with formatted or not,
diskpart can't run and when I included the device manager I see that the
drive has an exclamation mark on it. Any idea why I'm getting this?

What error message do you get from diskpart?

I've seen problems if an EWF config partition existed and
using diskpart clean command was the only way to fix it.

The decvice manager has a ! on the drive and diskpart cannot select the
disk as it is, apparently, not there.
