Diskeeper makes management console crash

I installed Diskeepr 2008 and it worked fine for a few days. But suddenly
starting up diskeeper generates an error message "Microsoft Management
Console has encountered a problem and has to close"
I have tried repairing my Diskeeper installation, uninstalling and
installing again, but I keep getting the same result.
Only hint I have is that it probably started after installing Frontpage2002
and downloading the security updates etc... that started coming then. Any
relation ? I don't know

Anyone experienced the same problem with Diskeeper 2008 ?
 
Similar to microsoft updates the diskkeeper and other applications also come
out with an update. With security changes and vulnerability fixes done
through the windows updates, it might have caused the diskkeeper to crash.
You should check with the disk keeper website if there is an update. A crash
also creates a crash dump file which can also be passed to microsoft or the
application vendor to investigate the cause behind the crash.
 
That was the first thing I checked, but there is no update (yet)

I fixed the problem by rolling back my system a few days to when I was sure
Diskeeper 2008 worked OK. And indeed, I was able to open Diskeepr
again...until today, same problem again.

In the mean time I got an answer from Diskeepr, and they suggested the
problem might come from a wrong version of msvcr80.dll or from conflicting
versions of this dll. I followed their instructions and first ran SFC
/SCANNOW which would check all system files and reset them to the original
status, then downloaded the "latest version" from
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr80 Nothing works.
Strangely enough this "latest version" is dated 5/4/2007 but it has version
8.0.50727.42 while I already had a version 8.0.50727.762 dated 1/12/2006

I amwaiting for some further comment from Diskeeper now

Yes, I had that problem and found that it was tied to an obscure
regional setting. If you go to the control panel > regional and
language options > customize > click on the 'Digit grouping' option
and change it from 123456789 to 123,456,789. I discovered this when
one of my young kids was playing with my computer and changed it.
Once I changed it from 123456789 to 123,456,789 it worked. This may
seem strange but hey it works!!
