diskcleanup and sluggish

ever since i downloaded the latest critical xp update, my
diskcleanup has not worked, and my puter is sluggish.
anybody else experiencing this problem? disk defragmenter
works. i can't get a reply from microsoft support. Feel
free to email me and put Re: windows fix

Try running disk cleanup without compressing old files.

Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.
