Hi,

Does anyone know how much hard disk space Windows XP Home
Eddition needs. I am thinking of putting it onto an old
laptop which only has a 3gb hard disk.

Many thanks

Eddie

XP can take up to 1.8 gb on your hard drive, so 3 gb is enough to run on,
provided you don't have too many programs running at the same time.

Eddie,
the box says:
PC w/300MHz or higher processor recommended/233MHz minimum
128MB of RAM or higher/64MB min
1.5GB of available disk space
Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher
CD-ROM or DVD drive
you can also check out the XP Home Page for System
requirements at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/evaluation/default
..asp
Installing XP on older machines can be a challenge though
due to the HCL (Hardware Compatibility and Software
Compatibility, for that matter). I've installed it on
two machines that I've built in the last 2-5 years and it
wasn't a simple thing to do.
Best of luck,
Terrie
