Hi. Ive been going nuts removing programs that I can do
without on my computer to free up disk space and my
computer is pretty much cleaned out of things Ive
installed in the past and I still only have 1.25GB free
and 36 GB occupied. My Temporary Internet Files are
cleaned out, Ive gotten rid of programs and files I dont
need and I cant for the life of me figure out WHAT on my
computer is taking up all of that space. Ive tried
compressing files, Ive tried Disk Cleanup and even left
it on overnight and it didnt do anything, it just sat
there and said "calculating..." all night which is more
than I usually get! NOrmally it just freezes up on me. I
dont know what else to do to free up disk space and I
really dont even understand what is taking up all of that
space. Any suggestions?

Empty XP Recycle Bin

If you have Norton SystemWorks, check of Norton's Protected Recycle Bin

XP System Restore feature also uses disk space.

If all the above does not help, then it is time to upgrade the hard driver
to a large model. Do not worry, several hard drive manufacturers offer a
disk copy utility to copy your old hard drive to the newer model (disk
cloning). If not, then Norton Ghost 2003 is very useful for this. You
would not have to re-install XP nor re-activate XP (most of the time.)

Y.

Defragment your HD and see what happens. If you havent
defraged it in awhile it might take a long time to finish
(maybe a couple of days) just leave it alone and see if
you get any results after that.
