Disk or Network Error

Sometimes when using Access 2002 with a data file on the
network drive, the data seems to disappear, that is,
Access is still running but all the forms, queries,
tables, etc are no longer listed in the database window
and open forms no longer have any data in the fields and
no longer function. This is usually accompanied by
a "Disk or Network Error" message or a message that the
form cannot be found. The database does not appear to be
damaged and opens fine if I close and reopen Access,
though any changes in the record I was editing is lost
and any changes I was making to forms, queries or tables
that were open is also lost. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

One likely option is that you have a faulty network card/cable/other
component. I was having this issue as well, and couldn't figure it out,
until I sat and watched a hub for ten minutes. Eventually, I saw the thing
powering itself on and off randomly. Replaced it with a switch and all is
well now. In my case, this was corrupting the back-end data.

Sounds like your network is dropping out intermittently due to faulty
network card, cable, hub, etc ... Access is fairly sensitive with this sort
of problem.

Get your network people to check your's connection (and other database
users) urgently as this WILL corrupt your database sooner or later. Back up
your database regularly in the mean time.
