Disk Management to format and partition 2 HDs

I'd like to have two HDs, both bootable, one the backup
image of the other, selectable for bootup by the BIOS
boot sequence setting. I'd also like to have a swap file
partition on each HD for use by the other HD when the
other is the boot drive. Whichever disk is booted, it will
think it's drive C:, and it will use the swap file partition on
the other drive.

1) Besides the imaging (for which I plan to use Drive Image),
can this be set up with Disk Management in WinXP?

2) Does the partition used for the swap file have to be a
primary partion or can it be part of an extended partition?

3) How does one make sure the swap file partition is on the
outermost cylinders of the hard drive?

Thanks for any info.

Hi,

Any special reason for a dual boot system of XP?
It seems that you are wasting resources.

If one drive were to fail, I could merely switch the
BIOS' boot sequence to the other drive and I'd be
up and running again with little delay - no need to
get out another hard drive, transfer the image, etc. I
also need periodic backups, and I plan to use Drive
Image to backup the entire primary drive to the
secondary - no agonizing about which files to back up.
With hard drives at $1/GB, separate hard drives
dedicated to backup images are practical, now.
