Disk I/O Error: Status 00008001

Upon boot up each time I see the error in the subject
line, for a very brief instant before the prompt to touch
F8 for Safe Mode. The boot goes fine and no apparent
problems exist but I was curious why the error comes up.
It happens with two different hard drives, both IBMs
though.
