disk error

I've had to recently reformat and reinstall Winxp.
Everything was going ok until I decided to install XP on a
second HD. After it was installed and did a reboot, I
received the the message "disk error press any key to
restart". Nothing.
So I reformatted again and reinstalled XP again, still
getting disk error message, yet when I boot from WinXP cd
and do bootcfg /rebuild, I can restart and everything
looks fine once I get to my desktop.
Its driving me mental.

Youre problems will continue if xp is on two drives
within the same computer.

Maybe you need to edit the boot.ini file.
What does it say?
