disk error

dear sir/mam..

i am facing a problem with WIN2KP. as soon as i m trying
to boot my PC i am getting a error "disk error". i has
checked the disk it is working fine. primary partition is
active. everything is fine.i tried to reinstall windows
but after completing MSDOS part ...system reboots and
again same error is appearing again and again.no way
system is able to boot up.kindly help me if it is the disk
problem or some thing else

What is the exact disk message. It is needed in this case to see if the
problem is coming from the MBR or the Boot Sector on the drive. If you want
to take the MBR out of the equation, format a floppy in Windows 2000 GUI
mode (dont quick format it) and copy NTLDR, ntdetect.com and boot.ini to it
and try to boot the machine from floppy. If that works then it could just
be boot files but would most likely be the MBR which you could fix with a
FIXMBR command in recovery console.
