I'm getting infrequent messages "An error was detected on device
\Device\Harddisk2\D during a paging operation" in the Events log. According
to the Windows Disk Manager, Disk 2 is the external Seagate usb-connected
drive, which I use for backup storage. According to System Properties, that
drive has no page file, so I'm wondering if the error description is simply
incorrect -- or maybe I'm mis-interpreting what it means.
Has anyone seen this message in similar circumstances?
Seagate diagnostics detect one bad sector on the device and I will be
attempting to repair that. But I also want to make certain that the device --
which is relatively quite slow -- is indeed NOT being used for paging.
TIA for any advice,
Phil
