Maxtor 6Y080LO shows up as SCSI device in device manager
and IDE controllers are ATA/ACPI single drive 5
partitions. How can I get Disk Drive recognized as ATA
device. Thanks for any help.

Hi,

It will not be seen as an ATA device if you have it hooked to a controller
card. If you want it seen and used as an ATA device, connect it directly to
the motherboard with an EIDE cable (probably 80 wire if ATA66 or better, do
not skimp and use 40 wire as it can cause conflicts).

Is it connected on a separate UDMA or SATA card rather than the
motherboard controllers? Such things, which need supplementary
drivers, always get listed as SCSI
