disk drive partition disappeared

my hard disc drive was partitioned into two.. when doing a defrag recently,
noticed one partition (about 90GB) is missing. 'properties' says "this device
is working properly".. but when trying to open, says "it is not accessible..
the parameter is incorrect" ..how to fix?? anyone? thanks -
ps.. notice the drive that does work is 'NTFS file system'.. the drive that
doesn't work is RAW file system.. anything to do with it? ..how to change?

RAW means unformatted. I don''t know what defragmentation program you
use, but I can tell you that Windows built-in defragmenter doesn't erase
disk partitions.

First, terminology:
RAW = unused, unallocated, unformatted disk
space. It cannot work as it cannot be addressed.

Considering that, your first paragraph becomes
confusing; somehow you have mixed ther results of
the two drives up.
I have to assume the drive that's working is
your system drive, usually C, or you wouldn't be
able to use the computer. Logically then, that
says drive D, or what you had as that drive, has
been damaged somehow.
You didn't mention what tools you're using
either, or which type of XP, so you could even
have gone to areas where the partitions were
numbered 0 and 1, or 1 and 2; watch out for those
inconsistancies.

Since you can't address the drive in any way, it
will probably have to be repartitioned (turned
into a partition) and formatted.

But more detail would help get you a better
response.
