When I use the Disk Defragmenter I get the following message:

Defragmentation is complete for: (C:)

Some files on this volume could not be defragmented.
Please check the defragmentation report for the list of these files.

When I check the report I don't see any files listed. I've tried disabling
the pagefile. The same problem occurs. Can anyone provide a reason or
solution for this problem?

Event log files are at least one group of files, registry hives are another
set of files.

JS

have you enabled the viewing of all types of files via explorer tool .
there are about 3 entries that need to be set.

you have to use Windows Explorer, Tools , Folder Options and set the option boxes to show all files of all types, about 3 entries.

when the defrag is complete it should show a window with the files that it could not defrag.

Hello Matthew:

Some folks like to have better information to start with. The following
can be used as a guide to state your problem with greater precision:

<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375>

To begin, are you attempting to run the Defragmenter from the
Administrator account, or as a user with lesser privileges?

If you are receiving the error message as the Administrator, cut and
paste the exact error message into a Google search.

Please post a follow-up with your progress or solution.

Pete
