I run the defragmenter on a daily schedule, and every
night it crashes XP. I send the error to Microsoft - it
is analyzed as a type 454738 involving interactions with
the INTEL disk driver, but I suspect there is a bad disk
file or directory.

The error messages say "Windows cannot find
http:\oca.microsoft.com/resdir.asp?sid=733 etc etc"

Anyone out there having this problem?

Any suggestions what I should do to fix it?

Run your chkdisk and see if it finds any problems. Use the repair parameter as well. start\my computer\right click on your main drive(usually c) then click properties then click the tools tab and then the error-checking and put a check mark in both boxs and click ok. It will tell you that it can't do a chkdisk at this time as it needs complete access so it will want you to click ok so that it can run at your next boot. Close out and reboot and let it do it's thing. Now this can't help if your HDD is actually beginning to fail. If you know the manufacturer of you HDD then you can get their disk checking utility and run it. The following link has most of the manufacturers listed and links to their sites and tools. You will need a floppy disk in most cases. http://forums.amdmb.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=2382705#post238270
Let us know how you make out. {:~)
