disk cleanupfor does not work

disk cleanup fro Home XP starts for my C drive properly
but then fails to run and compress old files. It just
sits there for hours.........

Any help?

Thanks Taurarian, it worked.
New problem:Re: I cannot go back to July 2003 on System
Restore for HomeXP. It started Monday with the disc
cleanup problem.
