disk cleanup

i need help.
i'm able to defragmentize my c drive, whith no problem.
when i try to clean my c drive nothing happens.
even when i schedule my computer to clean it . the
following morning i get a message telling me it could not
start the process.
ehen i do it manually it tells me it may take a few
minutes , but 1 hour later still shows the same.
what am i doing wrong?
