Disk Cleanup Just Emptied Most of My Harddrive

I have no idea why this happened, while disk cleanup was clearing the error
reports, all my files started disappearing, the ones under "Users" at least.
My music, movies, files, desktop, everything, just gone. I didn't even
notice until the next song on my playlist wasn't found.

So my question is, how can I recover these files? Being the retard I am, I
never set up a shadow, so that option is out.

Thanks for any help, it's appreciated.

Mine did the same thing. I have no clue why either. I was just doing a drive
cleanup and next thing I know, all the software in the Programs menu is
gone. It trashed everything. I had to re-install Vista.

... trust me... i know this stuff. And for the love of God,
do not use vista disk cleanup utility, (format c: anyone?) I think so.

Since I use Vista Disk Cleanup regularly every week, and have never
had a problem with it at all, no I don't trust you. It would seem that
you clearly *don't* "know this stuff," and did something very much
wrong.

You were told you could remove (clean up) 284 gig of files from an 80 gig
drive - and it did not raise any red flags in your mind?

It certainly should have! At that point you should have done a thorough
investigation as to what you were planning to do.

You do tend to talk in sweeping overstatements that simply destroy the
credibility of what you are trying to assert. There are not anything like
10,000 forums on Vista or Vista problems out there for you to find.

And in more than four months of monitoring the many thousands of postings on
most of the forums that are out there, this is the first time I encountered
anyone making your claims. I have used disk cleanup regularly during all
that time with no problems at all.

I have no idea what happened on your machine, and I am pretty certain from
what you describe, that neither do you.

Keep in mind, too, that when someone comes to a forum, as you did, they are
coming with a problem, and for every one of them there are hundreds or
thousands that are not having problems and do not come. Judging the software
on the number of postings is hardly an unbiased sample.

I hope you solve your problem and I hope you find an operating system to
your liking.
