Disk Cleanup Issue

I cannot seem to use my disk cleanup application any
longer. Whenever I run the application it just seems to
get stuck. The status line says "Scanning: Compress old
files" and the CPU utilization is at 100%. I cannot find
any method to remove the option for compressing old files
(if that is indeed what it is doing). Is there any way to
change the configuration or reset the options? Also,
where are these compressed old files located and can I
delete them? I am running on the 5.1.2600 Build 2600
version of XP Pro with a 2GHz P4 processor.
