ok, sorry again, for not being savvy like you...i run this program and it
shows i have nearly 1 million "KILO"bytes, not bytes...how can i access these
to see if any files can be deleted to free up space? plz answer in lawman's
tongue 'cause again i am not savvy like those of you who surf here! thanks...
The Compress Old Files option available in the Disk Cleanup utility will not
delete any files. It will simply compress files that Windows has identified as
not being accessed recently. The total you see displayed represents potential
disk space savings.
Click on the Compress Old Files entry and you will see a description of what
selecting that option means. The following text should be displayed in the
Description box.
"Windows can compress files that you haven't accessed in a while. Compressing
the files will save disk space while still enabling you to access them. No files
will be deleted. Because files compress at different rates, the displayed amount
of disk space you will gain is approximate".
If you click on the Options button under that text, Windows will allow you to
set how many days should pass before Disk Cleanup offers to compress a file.
Take a look at the Compress Old Files section of this web site for more info.

If you're running out of space on your hard drive, there are far better options
than Disk Cleanup. Shenan Stanley, MS-MVP already provided you with a number of
steps to clean up your hard drive in your original thread.
