Disk Clean-up

I've been trying to run Disk Clean-up and can't get past the box "checking to see how much space can be saved". The system shows 3 green bars every time and then hangs. I get the same response no matter where I start the process, (i.e. Start menu, run or within My computer

Any thoughts?
