Disk Clean up hangs

When I run disk clean up on the C disk it hangs and the processor races.

Try the following web sites for troubleshooting suggestions:

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll
down to Line #48. In the right-hand window, click on
"Disk Cleanup - Compress Old Files Freezes"

Simply click on Kelly's fix, download the registry fix, then run it.
(Note: Disable your antivirus program before running the repair script)

you are a godsend..line 48 fix worked perfectly..The problem i was having was the same as others..in this forum post,but also if the clean disk was cancelled and tried again.the clean disk window wouldn't even show. After i ran the download in line 48.i rebooted the computer,then the computer unfroze and the clean disk worked like magic..thank you very much . I was just wondering why something like this would happen? it never happened before on my computer,and how can i prevent something like this from happening again?
