disk clean up doesn't work?

I run disk clean up,select the disk to check and the
program starts by checking archived folders, gets about 3
or 4 bars and just keeps running (3 hours +). I do a ctl
alt delete to check if the program is running or frozen
and it is running. Any ideas?

Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
