cancels itself.
Not really. It's not called ScanDisk in XP. Which way do you run it?
CHKDSK:
In My Computer: Right click Local Drive C>Properties>Tools>Error
Checking>Check Both Boxes>Start>Prompt to restart>Click Yes. {Takes a while
but is more thorough}
Or:
Start>Run>type in CHKDSK. {Takes about 2 minutes}
Try whichever way you *haven't* tried and see what happens.
Do a disk cleanup first.
