Hello, I am getting the following message on startup:-

DISK BOOT FAILIURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

My CD drive will not open so I am unable to insert windows
XP into the drive and I do not have a floppy boot disk.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi there!

There is generally a little hole on the front of the CD-ROM drive that will
release the tray after inserting a straightened paper-clip into it. That
might help with the boot up problem.

Good luck!

Kind regards,
Dillon Coetzer

If you didn't create a backup disk and you didn't delete
anything, make sure youur drive will, at all, open -- at
anytime, after which insert the CD and reboot. If it
won't open, insert a pin into the litt;e hole on the
front of your drive and open it that way. OR< you can
press F9 at boot after the BIOS screen and boot from an
alternate source like a floppy or even a LAN.

any possibility you have a floppy disk in & your bios is set to boot from
floppy first?
seen this happen a lot

At Power on hit the hotkey (often DEL) for BIOS setup, and make sure in
that (in a Boot or BIOS setup page) that the boot order is set as Hard
disk first. It sounds as if it is set as CD then HD, and that a
non-bootable CD is stuck in the drive (still a problem but a lesser one)
