I am using FP02 and I recently published a discussion web
as a subweb with unique permissions. I added the users
who would be able to access this and assigned them the
role of "contributer". The description of this role
is "veiw pages and documents, view and contribute to
discussions." Based on this I assume that this would be
the proper level of authorization. But when one of these
users go to the discussion board, they can access it, but
when they attempt to post they are just continually asked
for a password. Do I need to increase the level of
authorization for these users? The next level up is
author which I would not like to assign. Is there
something I need to fix?? thanks!

Just to check: Have you looked at local groups in Computer Management and
verify presence of the "contributer" group with appropriate members?

I don't know where Computer Management is. I'm pretty new
at this so you'll have to be a little more specific.
thanks!

You can right-click My Computer and click on Manage. Once Computer
Management window is open, look for Local Users and Groups. The Groups
folder shoud show all local machine groups.
