I need to know how to physically disconnet from the Internet to secure and protect my computer from internet problems. I received an alert from Microsoft Windows XP and this is the first step of the procedure. Thanks

Hi!
You could try unplugging your phone line or other signal connections leading
up to your computer. It may be a good idea to shut down your computer before
doing this. One way you may do this without fussing with the cabling at the
back of your computer would be to see where the cabling goes to the walls of
your house and disconnect from there.

Yes. Disconnecting the phone cord out of the computer modem would isolate
your computer from the internet.

forgive my asking, but i never heard of microsoft suggesting that you
physically disconnect your computer from the internet to be secure. using
diskettes can be a medium for viruses as well.

was the message from microsoft sent via email?

mcdog, your reply would be much appreciated.

thanks.
