Disconnecting- XP-Pro

When right-clicking on shortcut icon
in order to bring up disconnect dialogue
box, my computer commences talk to
another computer and prevents me from
connecting to the disconnect dialogue
box until the event with the other computer
ends. No tasks are shown, and the event
is not shown in the event viewer. Is there
a way one can find to who/what the computer
may be talking. Might be MS? Thanks

Install a firewall, it will likely tell you what's going on as such an event
should trigger a warning. NOTE: that's not the case for XP's built in
firewall as it does not monitor outgoing transmissions, only incoming.

There are several free firewalls, all of which monitor both outgoing and
incoming communications:
