Disconnecting unexpectedly from the net

I'm having problems with my internet connection. It
keeps disconnecting at unrequested times, sometimes as
much as five times in fifteen minutes. I've checked with
the phone company and they have turned the volume of the
line up but detected no other faults on the line. I have
re-downloaded Wanadoo's internet settings incase they had
corrupted but no improvement. I've checked all of my
equipment and leads and I don't believe that they are the
problem.
I don't think the server is busy as it happens at any
time of the day not just at busy periods.

I'm now seeking a more up to date driver for my modem
incase that is the problem but I'm finding it hard to
find the correct driver. In the Device Manager it lists
my dial-up modem as MSP3885-E 56K PCI Modem by Conexant.
Which I understand is where the chipset was manufactured
and not the modem so I cannot find the correct driver.
My search is also hampered somewhat when I get
disconnected, again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Catherine.

Install and maintain an up to date anti-virus program. You could have a
virus which would disconnect you from the Internet (ie: MSBlaster).

Also, you should check of the possibility of a "silent dialer" which could
be taking over your Internet connection.

Run: CWShedder, Ad-Aware 6.0 and Spybot: Search and Destroy 1.3.
